The PDS-408G is plenum rated and can be installed in any air handling space, making it ideal for digital ceiling installations. Its fanless design provides the features needed for buildings that require noise-free and reliable operation, such as offices, hospitals and hotels. The PDS-408G also provides other proven advantages of PoE, including safe power, simple installation, flexible deployment and remote power management. The PDS-408G joins Microchip’s portfolio of end-to-end PoE solutions. Developers can use the PDS-408G switch together with the company’s extensive portfolio of 8- and 32-bit PIC ® and AVR ® microcontrollers (MCUs) at the end node.

I/Os of FPGAs and microprocessors in the satellite’s flight computer, dramatically reducing pin count compared to 1-input to 1-output driver arrays. Each of the ISL72814SEH’s 16-channels of common-collector open-emitter PNP driver outputs can generate pulses of up to 42V and 700mA. The device is wafer acceptance tested to 100krad(Si) over high dose rate (HDR), and 75krad(Si) over low dose rate (LDR) total dose testing. Characterization testing is completed with no single event latch-up (SEL), single event burnout (SEB), and single event transients (SETs) at a linear energy transfer (LET) of up to 86MeV*cm2/mg. “The ISL72814SEH offers satellite customers the ultimate in radiation immunity, mass and power savings,” said Philip Chesley, Vice President, Industrial Analog and Power Business Division, Renesas Electronics Corporation. “Our current driver significantly reduces the circuitry required on the bus, enabling manufacturers to add more functionality and processing power to their next generation satellites.”

Industry’s first terabit-scale Ethernet PHY enables highest-density 400 GbE and FlexE connectivity Microchip, via its Microsemi subsidiary, is the first to enable a unique set of capabilities with its META-DX1 family of Ethernet Physical-Layer (PHY) devices. The family enables telecom service providers to build out networks using routing and switching platforms that reduce costs, optimize bandwidth and increase capacity, security and flexibility. Integrated into a single chip, the META-DX1 family combines Ethernet ports from 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) to 400 GbE, Flexible Ethernet (FlexE), Media Access Control Security (MACsec) link encryption and nanosecond timestamping accuracy at terabit capacity. The industry is transitioning from 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) to 400 GbE to support traffic within hyperscale data centres. According to Cisco’s Global Cloud Index, this traffic will quadruple by 2021 with data centre-to-

Eight-port switch supports new IEEE 802.3bt Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard to create cost-effective smart lighting systems Microchip Technology Inc., via its Microsemi subsidiary, announces a cost-effective eight-port Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch which provides guaranteed power of 60 Watts (W) per port for all eight ports simultaneously. Ideal for digital ceiling installations, the IEEE 802.3bt-compliant PDS-408G PoE switch runs noise-free with a fanless design. Designed for enterprise connected lighting applications, the PDS-408G connects separate systems such as lighting, sensors, HVAC and Wi-Fi ® access points over a single switch. The switch has eight PoE ports, which is the optimal number for connected lighting, and offers end applications additional cost-savings from energy savings and lower operating expenses. In compliance with IEEE 802.3bt, the
